Viktor knew he wasn’t human, not like Markus was. No thoughts of his own – Master would punish him if he suspected Viktor sometimes had thoughts and feelings. Or something like it, a little thing inside his chest. Fists would rearrange his face until he was unconscious, than whisper painful healing spells because Viktor didn’t have a life, but Markus did.
Annie would notice if her boyfriend showed up with a busted face.
Still, Viktor was Viktor. Markus had named him when he became aware of his existence. It had been a spark, life became real when they realised they were two separated entities inside the body of one boy. Master didn’t plan for his weapon to have some level of personhood, and he wouldn’t know.
Markus was safer if Master didn’t know.
