Update: I saw an unusually large wolf in the woods last night

Posted by u/unholycreekboi on r/allthingscrypts

I have two updates.

First.

My friend saw her.

My friend, well call her Jane, and her kid, who we'll call Jamie, were hiking last week. Jamie, who's 5, slipped down a ravine and straight into the river. Jane tried to go after her, but she was panicking and she's not an athlete level of physically well-conditioned. By the time she reached the water, the wolf was crawling out of it with Jamie. Carrying the kid by the back of her shirt as if she was a cub. Then the wolf gently put Jamie in front of Jane, nodded and retreated back into the thick of the tree.

Second.

I asked my mom about local legends.

She told me of a wendigo kind of creature. Most people believe it's not real – but then, we didn't believe shifters were real until rather recently, right? So. According to legend, this creature attacks small groups. Like a small squad of soldiers in a recon mission deep in the woods.

My conclusion: the wolf is a shifter, she was either in a squad or camping with someone when the creature attacked. My theory is that she was the first target, you neutralize the strongest asset, or she was the only one who managed to fight.

Comments

u/queernfurry: I've been trying to go through declassified documents, expect a dump soon. This wolf is not the first feral thing product of military negligence.

u/lukewarmomega: I heard the nickname is Paw Patrol. One of the reasons werecreatures don't belong in the armed forces! The stress alone is a breeding ground to turn them back into feral man-eaters. The army using them as an alarm system is bound to cause massacres.

Response by u/unholycreekboi: They forget these people are still people. And humans lose their minds too.

Response by u/lukewarmomega: A human can't pull out a person's heart and eat it while its still beating. We need people out of combat situations.

u/feralboytoy: Yes, yes, neutralize the strongest asset. If this soldier was in a squad, they're probably an alpha (which explains why they're a massive wolf). Alphas are hunters and protectors, they have the brute strength to go through an army of regular humans. This creature might have caught them by surprise.

Response by u/lukewarmomega: Proving brute strength isn't everything.

Response by u/feralboytoy: Proving even us, predators, aren't invincible. They didn't deserve it anyways.

u/knottyboi: This wolf went into water and brought the child out of it? Yeah, there's no way they snapped and killed their squad.

Response by u/suspiciouslurker: Maybe Jane was armed.

Response by u/unholycreekboi: No, she wasn't. And Jane is almost shorter than the wolf..

Response by u/knottyboi: If she was "cannibalistic", in her malnourished stated, she'd be locking her lips after snacking on the girl by the time the mother arrived. This wolf is hurt, there's no denying. This wolf is also probably a person who wants to go home.
